New Hire Orientation

A lot of learning happens when you start anything new, especially a new job. The learning curve can be really steep as you become familiar with the new responsibilities, expectations, and work culture at a new place of work. At Westfield Steel we know a new job can sometimes feel like information overload. Even though there is no way around the learning curve for a new job, we have created an orientation to help newer employees learn the ropes at Westfield Steel. We call it “New Hire Orientation” and every new employee at Westfield Steel attends.

New Hire Orientation is a five hour event where new employees together learn about the company, steel industry, and policies in an interactive way with all company department heads. Right away, new employees are meeting leaders within the company and are able to ask questions. They get a free lunch, some Westfield Steel swag, and are paid for attending.

We have found that offering New Hire Orientation enables new hires to feel welcome at Westfield Steel and increases the likelihood that they will stick with the company for the long-term.

About Fritz Prine

Fritz is the President & CEO at Westfield Steel. He oversees the daily operations and is involved with the strategic vision of the company. Fritz has been with Westfield Steel since 2007. Before joining the team, Fritz worked with General Electric and GE Capital for 16 years. He started in finance through GE’s Financial Management Program after graduating from Syracuse University. At GE, he successfully moved from finance, to manufacturing, to sales, and then to acquisitions. He relishes in change and enjoys developing people.
