Westfield Steel Earns Re-certification for ISO 2001:2008
FOR RELEASE:
October 17, 2011
WESTFIELD, Ind. – Following a long and demanding review process, Westfield Steel Inc. was re-certified under ISO 9001:2008.
“We have worked very hard trying to improve our quality system and are pleased that we achieved the re-certification,” said the company’s CFO, Fritz Prine.
This recent quality milestone is considered an achievement in light of the prolonged recession. At the start of the recession, there were cash constraints and uncertainty which puts a strain on the workforce. Prine added, “We focused on training, following documented procedures, and continuous improvement projects.” The effort put forth by many over the past two years will help the company improve its products and services in the future. The original certification was issued in October 2008.
According to ASR, ISO 9001:2000 is a set of basic business principles written in a standard for quality management systems that is accepted around the world. Currently, more than 100 countries have adopted ISO 9001 as a national standard. The standard is intended for quality management system assessments and registrations to ISO 9001.
